Monthly Premium Postal Code Data Subscription
Many countries use postal codes as part of postal addresses to sort mail. They are required for valid postal addresses and, as such, have a geographical significance, making them part of geonames.
The premium postal code subscription is a monthly data feed of our postal code dataset, covering about 120 countries. This dataset is integrated with the gazetteer dataset and follows the same release cycle. The administrative hierarchy is linked to the corresponding gazetteer feature via the geoname ID. The dataset also includes the geoname ID of the place name, where available. This is typically a populated place, but it may also be an administrative division, a valley, or another type of region. In some cases, no counterpart exists in the gazetteer because the name is an artificial construct used solely for postal purposes.
Postal codes are defined by national postal services and may vary significantly in granularity from country to country. The highest density of postal codes is found in Canada (CA), the United Kingdom (GB), and the Netherlands (NL). For these countries, we have split the download into two files: the standard country file, which includes the first part of the code comparable in granularity to other countries, and a second file called xx_full, which contains the full dataset.
The Premium Data allows you to implement your own code directly on the data, if you are interested in the GeoNames webservices the premium webservices are the right choice.

Value for Subscribers
Coherent and Verified Data
We run a great number of consistency checks to make sure the quality of the data improves from one release to the next
and no inconsistencies are added to the data. We also monitor modifications and manually verify changes and updates for
relevant toponyms. The monitoring helps us find errors added to the database and remove and fix them before we release
the premium dump.
